To display all archived versions you can use * but if you want to create a link to the last archived version of a page you can use the current date or even a future one. Example: http://web.archive.org/web/21000101000000/http://www.wikipedia.com

Actually, this doesn't always work. Sometimes if the date is too distant it's replaced with the current date and you'll have a 404 error. Compare http://web.archive.org/web/20040101000000/http://nupedia.com/pipermail/aerospace-l.mbox/aerospace-l.mbox and http://web.archive.org/web/21000101000000/http://nupedia.com/pipermail/aerospace-l.mbox/aerospace-l.mbox
